The 2017 SOAS learning and teaching conference focuses on collaborations and partnerships between staff and students and is aimed at all those with an interest in teaching and learning, education development and student engagement. The conference includes presentations from students as well as staff and provides a great opportunity to exchange ideas, and to celebrate, promote and disseminate good practice in learning and teaching in a higher education context.

All are welcome to attend. Registration deadline: Monday 5 June 2017

Keynote speakers

Dr Abbi Flint

Dr Abbi Flint is an independent educational developer and pedagogic researcher with specialist interest and experience in student engagement and partnership. Abbi is a principal fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Visiting Research Fellow in Student Engagement at Birmingham City University and convenor of the RAISE (Researching, Advancing and Inspiring Student Engagement) special interest group on partnership. She regularly presents and publishes on student engagement and partnership, and is a member of the international advisory group for the International Journal for Students as Partners.

Professor Simon Kemp

Professor Simon Kemp is Professorial Fellow in Education for Sustainable Development within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton. He is the University Lead in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), co-chair of Sustainability Action, and joint leader and founder of the Carbon Management Group. Simon's work has been nationally recognised, winning the Times Higher Education (THE) Most Innovative Teacher of the Year award 2013 and he was also awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2010.

It will be an exciting day, and in total we have 22 talks, and the announcement of the winners of the Director's Teaching Prize. A provisional conference programme is attached to this email.
