FW: SACWG Annual Seminar – Thurs 26th November 2015

 

We are very pleased to announce the details for the SACWG 2015 seminar (Student Assessment and Classification Working Group) – the event will take place on Thursday 26th November 2015 and will be entitled:

 

"Using Grade Point Average: Principles and Practicalities"

 

The event will be held at the Aston Conference Centre, Birmingham and bookings can be made via the weblink https://secure.worc.ac.uk/sacwg/. Please find attached the flier which gives more details – it should prove to be another interesting and illuminating event with useful discussions and we do hope that you will be able to join us.

8th HEIR Network Conference, 10/11 September 2015 

Hosted by the University of the West of Scotland, Paisley Campus

We are writing to let you know that due to further interest in registering for the 8th Heir Annual Conference that the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is hosting on 10/11 September 2015 at its Paisley Campus near Glasgow that we have extended Registration until 4pm on 21 August 2015.  Please do register for what is going to be an exciting and busy Conference discussing Higher Education Research.

Registration for the two-day conference is £150.00 per delegate and there is a dinner at Paisley Abbey on the evening of 10 September at a cost of £48.00 per delegate (http://www.paisleyabbey.org.uk/history/) We also have the opportunity for delegates, prior to the Conference Dinner, to meet Sandy Stoddart who since 2008 has been Her Majesty’s Sculptor in Ordinary in Scotland and has a studio at UWS, Paisley Campus.

You may be interested in forthcoming webinars on Starfish.  Starfish enables you to use institutional data to track students’ engagement and progress, and follow-up students who are at risk of under-achieving or withdrawing – and much more.

 

Thursday 20th August at 12pm:  Building a Culture of Success.  This webinar will look at how technology can support retention and student engagement; it will cover:

  • Engaging students through effective use of technology and best practice
  • Connecting students to their support network and optimising institutional resources
  • Identifying at risk students and managing the next steps
  • Gaining cross-departmental buy-in
