New Distance Learning Offering at QMUL View this email in your browser Online CPD Opportunities in Teaching and Learning QMUL is pleased to announce that a new Distance Learning Programme from the Centre for Academic and Professional Development (CAPD) will be starting in January 2015.  The Distance Learning Programme is now taking applications for standalone modules as well as for the Certificate in Learning and Teaching (CILT) and Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP).  Completion of CILT or PGCAP will enable participants to gain recognition as Associate and Fellow (respectively) of the Higher Education Academy. From January 2015 we are offering the following modules for those involved in learning and teaching who wish to extend or enhance their skills.  Each online module will run for a period of 12 weeks: Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (ADP7001) This module aims to give participants a broad overview of theories and literature around teaching and student learning as well as equipping them with the skills necessary to deliver a high quality student experience in a variety of teaching situations. Assessing Students (ESD7015) This module aims to allow participants to consider aspects of assessment and feedback in higher education and to critically analyse their own practice in assessment and feedback. Developing the Curriculum in the Disciplines (ESD7011) This module encourages participants to engage in a process of curriculum design, based around Biggs’ concept of Constructive Alignment, to ensure that assessment and evaluation are made as important to the design process as delivery methods and content. Teaching with Learning Technologies (ESD7018) This module aims to give participants a broad overview of theories and literature around teaching and student learning as well as equipping them with skills necessary to deliver a high quality student experience in a variety of teaching situations. Summer School (face-to-face delivery) This module takes place 20-24 July 2015 at QMUL Mile End campus. It will focus on International Perspectives on Higher Education and bring together various experts in the field. It will include sessions on the history of higher education, paradigms of researching higher education, vocal skills training, reflective practice, student engagement, graduate attributes and employability, and inclusive curriculum design.
