Bookings are now open for the fourteenth Annual Residential Seminar of the Centre for Recording Achievement, which – with support from the QAA - will take place on 27th and 28th November at the University of Aston in Birmingham.

Planned with practitioners:

As always, this is planned with the help of a Planning Group of CRA members who ensure we cover key issues of interest to the community.  This year our fellow planners are:

·           Lisa Bradley, University of Ulster

·           John Jackson, University of Bangor

·           Ruth Lawton, Birmingham City University.

·           Carol Maxwell, University of Abertay

·           Sue Riddell, Canterbury Christ Church University

Key seminar themes:

1.            Mapping the PDP journey, related to reviewing PDP policy in terms of current institutional priorities (and what part might PDP play in 'the HE offer' to potential applicants).

2.             Effective PDP or e-portfolio practice (what does this look like, within and outside the curriculum, and how do we know)?

3.            What do students value about/in e-portfolios?

4.            Open Badges, and other forms of micro-credentialing.

5.            The formative use of the HEAR, and how this might relate explicitly to PDP practice and graduate attributes.

6.            New thinking on Staff and student engagement.

Confirmed contributions so far (more to follow):

·                    "Reflection as a meta-capability" (plenary workshop).

·                    "Revisiting and enhancing the Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP) module in Teacher Training", Maria Rodriguez & Sarah Telfer, University of Bolton.

·                    "Learning Plans & e-portfolios in the new Integrated Engineering Programme", Paul Walker & colleagues, UCL.

·                    "Supporting and Enhancing the student experience through 'My Liverpool'" Trish Lunt, University of Liverpool.

·                    "Building Badges", Fiona Harvey, University of Southampton.

·               "Formative Use of the HEAR at Sheffield: Collaboration between the University and the Students' Union", Megan Howlett and Ed Smith, University of Sheffield.

·               "Fast Forward for Finalists – a package to highlight to students with how best to address the practicalities of searching for and applying for a graduate job",

Janet Lange, UCLAN.

ü  'Met and exceeded.'

ü  'The event ticked all those intentions, great to engage with all these ideas.'

ü  '9/10 and chances to follow up and collaborate'

ü  'I feel the key aspects where covered, I would have liked more engagement with social media.'

ü  'Excellent the event exceeded my expectations.'
