Pedagogic research conferences at Plymouth

 

Dear colleagues,

Please find below information about two upcoming conferences, organised by the Pedagogic Research Institute and Observatory (PedRIO) at Plymouth University, one of which includes a call for papers. Please do circulate to interested colleagues, and encourage them to submit an abstract for the April conference. One of our keynote speakers, Simon Kemp, has just been awarded the Times Higher Education Most Innovative Teacher of the Year!

1)    PedRIO Internationalisation and the Student Experience 2013 Conference – 18th December 2013 – Registration open

The Pedagogic Research Institute and Observatory, Plymouth Business School and the English Language Centre are hosting a one day conference on internationalisation and the student experience in HE on 18 December 2013 from 8.30am - 5.15pm.

The day will feature high quality, interactive contributions from academics including Dr Sheila Trahar, from the University of Bristol:   Are we still struggling with ‘internationalisation’? and Plymouth University's Professor Troy Heffernan: Transnational Education: Navigating a Complex Future , as well as practitioners and students involved with pedagogical research in an international context.

2)    PedRIO Annual Conference – 2nd April 2014 – Call for Abstracts open

The Pedagogic Research Institute and Observatory (PedRIO) is hosting its third annual conference in 2014.  Aimed at bringing together leading academics from the UK and beyond, the conference will present:

·         High quality papers;

·         Interactive workshops;

·         Show and tell sessions;

·         Poster contributions.

The conference will be themed around six key areas and welcomes contributions based on research from across and  between disciplines:

·         Education for sustainable development

·         Medical education

·         Masters level teaching

·         Spaces to think

·         Digital innovations

·         Inclusivity and engagement

It will also include keynote papers by Simon Kemp (University of Southampton) and Jack Miller (University of Toronto).
