Fwd: Maintaining professional standards in a resource constrained world event

Hello,

The ABS Programmes and Third Stream steering committees, together with the Higher Education Academy subject centre for Business, Management, Accountancy & Finance (BMAF<http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/business/>) are proud to present a one day event, 'Maintaining professional standards in a resource constrained world,' at Nottingham Business School on Thursday April 29th.

UK business schools are at the forefront of the current pressures in HE. Increasing class sizes and resource challenges are putting more pressure on quality and professional standards than ever before; this event aims to apply itself to three different elements of this interlinked issue.

The day will start with a keynote session from Ann Mroz<http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/biography.asp?contact=3>, editor of the Times Higher, on the current state of the Higher Education landscape and what the future might hold for UK business education.

There are then three workshop streams, each with a session before and after lunch:

1) Professional standards to enhance the student learning experience. Facilitated by Clive Robertson<http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/business/aboutus/ourstaff> and Richard Atfield<http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/business/aboutus/ourstaff> of BMAF.

2) Resource planning. Facilitated by the ABS programmes steering committee<http://www.the-abs.org.uk/?id=85> in association with the Managing of Academic Workloads (MAW<http://www.research.salford.ac.uk/maw/>) project at the University of Salford.

3) Future funding streams. Facilitated by the ABS third stream steering committee<http://www.the-abs.org.uk/?id=85>.

The closing plenary is to be delivered by Gavin Shreeve, Principal of ifs School of Finance<http://www.ifslearning.ac.uk/Default.aspx>, giving us a view of where private business education providers are headed. Pre-event accommodation is at the Crowne Plaza Hotel<http://www.crowneplaza.com/h/d/cp/925/en/hd/notws?countryId=0925&cm_mmc=mdpr-_-googlemapsUK-_-cp-_-notws&dp=true&_requestid=320818> and the pre-event dinner will be held at Nottingham Business School<http://www.ntu.ac.uk/nbs/>.
